Doug Hunt – World’s Tallest Magician!

You’ll recall in the last issue of Northern Peaks that Doug Hunt (A.K.A. Doug-The-Great) was featured on the front and back covers and in an article about his quest to re-break his record for tallest and heaviest stilts.

 

SUCCESS!!!

 

On Saturday, September 14th, 2002, Doug set two new world records for tallest and heaviest stilts. Doug broke the record by taking 29 independent steps on stilts measuring 50 feet 9 inches tall, and weighing 68.5 pounds each. That’s four inches taller and eleven pounds heavier than his previous record.

 

Doug also took the opportunity to perform the ‘rising pen’ trick and the ‘silk through the rope’ trick atop his five-plus story stilts – making him the World’s Tallest Magician.

 

All of these activities were part of a fund-raising campaign in support of Participation House Brantford. (PHB is a non-profit organization striving to meet the needs of physically challenged adults living in our community.)
